Re: 90's Music/Culture
Some show??!! This is In Living Color. The show that in addition to Jim Carrey gave us Jamie Foxx, the Wayans Brother, Jennifer freakin Lopez J-Lo. Totally groundbreaking. Maybe too far ahead of its time, aside from the production value the playing with racial stereotypes and roles would fit very ni...

Re: The Future of Field Techs: Race Class and Inclusion
Long read, but well worth it. Really gives you a lot to think about. As far as your unscientific study, my results are the same. 100% white techs, no exceptions. And that's in quite a bit of field work and not like oh just birds which is for white people.

These could just as easily go in the 90's thread, but it seems more consistent to have them here.

I think this is another sub-forum that probably just needs one thread so I'll go ahead and get it going. I worked a mammal job in southern California which was on the same property as where The Biggest Loser was being filmed. We shared a kitchen with the losers and used to just see them walking arou...

I loved the Jerky Boys when I was the appropriate age for it (i.e. 13 or so). Nice to be able to still find stuff like this. Juvenile but gives me a chuckle

Definitely the best one yet. I like the conversational aspect. Makes it flow very smoothly and easy to read.

Re: Winter 23-24: What are you doing?
I have a pretty fortunate situation in that my parents are cool and easy to live and get along with. They run an antique shop (and they have for most of my life) so I can manage it pretty easily. I stay with them and I give them a break from work so it works out well for all of us. I don't feel any ...

Re: Becoming a field tech - where to begin?
If you didn't read my post in the intro thread, I'm thinking about looking for a job as a seasonal biology field tech, but I have no real experience aside from a rather typical interest of the outdoors and outdoor activity. What should I be doing to help myself as a candidate for these jobs? Where ...

The title of the thread says the word "music." This is just a bunch of noise caused by pressing buttons and turning knobs.smokeygreens wrote: ↑December 6th, 2023, 4:32 pm Drum n bass!

Hey duuudes! Looking to chill with my field tech crew. Well, my online crew anyway. I've been doing forestry for three years and that's it for me. Let me be out in the woods all day checkin out the birds and whatever. Love me some trees if you know what I mean  Lol that icon is named Mr. G...

Re: Music For Traveling
Yes, it's a fine guitar solo. Surrounded by some bad singing of incomprehensible lyrics with some elevator music harmonies thrown in. It's not as bad as RITY but still not doing it for me. I'll grant that the musicianship is good and the music is complex, but complexity doesn't make music better, it...

I'm going to second the distrust of Steely Dan. I'm big into classic rock, but it sounds very corporate and dangerously close to smooth jazz to me. I'd rather listen to car commercials than Reelin in the Years. How about some live Hendrix for that last stretch of driving? Band of Gypsys https://www....
